Pure Aleppo Soap | 3.5 ozs
Aleppo soap is made from two oils: olive oil and laurel berry oil.
Each family in Aleppo, Syria, that makes this soap, has done so for hundreds of years, has their own secret recipe. The amount of laurel berry oil used can vary from 2 to 40%. I like to use 20% in my recipe.
There is no fragrance oil or essential oil added to these yet they have a lovely scent from the laurel berry oil.
Being made from only liquid oils, and especially with such a high percentage being olive oil, this soap takes an extraordinarily long time to cure, actually a minimum of 1 year, some say the optimum is two years?
Whatever the time period, the fact is that the longer they cure the better they become, like a fine wine.
FRAGRANCE
Just scent from the dark Laurel Berry Oil.
No other fragrance added so they are technically ‘unscented’.
INGREDIENTS
Olive Oil, Water, Laurel Berry Oil.
Yes we did use lye but that no longer exists in the soap now that the saponification process is completed.
WEIGHT
Each bar weighs 3.5 ounces.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Due to the glycerin naturally produced in soap, it draws moisture to itself, AKA it is a humectant. This means making sure that it has the chance to dry out when not in use. Please do not leave it sitting in a puddle of water when you have finished your bath or shower.
To get that extra mile, I have found that rubbing the soap onto a wash cloth makes it last a lot longer, which took a bit of training as I used to lather the soap directly on my skin.
